Incapacity benefit
I have been told by my sister that Anita should have been receiving incapacity benefit because she is only on half pay at work. I should have been sent an SE1 form to fill in back in May after she had been off work for 6 months. Apparently incapacity benefit comes into force after you have been incapable of work for more than 28 weeks.
I added up how much money this would be and was quite shocked as it was a considerable amount. Of course her employer made a blunder and don’t expect everyone to remind you of these things. The morale of the story is look into all possible benefits.
Note: I did go to the carers asociation in Milton Keynes a while back to get financial advice. They pointed out to me that this benefit was available but in my woolly headedness I thought she was only entitled to benefits after the half pay period from her employer.
